Introduction

Spreedly is now partnered with Forter, a global leader in identity intelligence and security to provide strong customer authentication (SCA) and adding more options for fraud prevention. This transition is an upgrade to our current 3DS Global product. New features include additional security, a native mobile (iOS and Android) SDK for 3DS, and an optimal user experience.

What’s changing

Backend provider for Spreedly 3DS2 Global is moving from Seglan → Forter.

What’s not changing

No new required API fields
No remapping of existing API requests/responses
Applies to both:
- Standalone 3DS Global requests
- 3DS requests executed as part of a gateway transaction

How does this impact me?

The impact to our customers is limited. Spreedly's 3DS Global API will continue to work as is and does not require any additional fields or remapping of existing API calls and responses. This is true for both standalone 3DS Global requests and 3DS requests that are part of a gateway transaction.

Will the response I receive from Spreedly change?

No, we will continue to send the same information as before. Customers will not need to update current 3DS Global integrations.

If you are currently using undocumented features of 3DS Global or you have implemented the service incorrectly you could experience errors or responses that are unplanned during this transition.

Are there any technical changes I will need to make?

The new 3DS Global will require the use of iFrame version v1.177 or greater. If you are using iFrame-v1 or iFrame-stable there is no change. If you are using an iFrame version prior to version v1.177, 3DS Global will not be compatible post May 29th, 2025.

You may want to make updates to take advantage of the new features being added to the production.

What new features are coming soon?

Spreedly 3DS powered by Forter brings many exciting possibilities to our clients. Here is a list of what is being enabled:

New card type - Spreedly will now offer SCA for five additional card brands ('diners', 'jcb', 'dankort', 'union_pay', and 'cartes_bancaires'.)
- Note: To use the new card types, you need to create a new Merchant Profile, and SCA provider referencing the new Merchant Profile.
Payment Fraud Prevention Partner Integrations - Spreedly's partnership with Forter enables us to deliver a native fraud check in our authorization and purchase api calls. Contact Spreedly for more information if you're new to Forter or want to bring your own credentials from Forter or Kount using our new Forter guide.
Mobile SDK for 3DS- Spreedly will now support 3DS mobile through Forter Mobile SDK to work alongside the Spreedly platform.
Spreedly Payment Fraud Solutions - Through the Spreedly Forter partnership, customers can access a 3DS recommendation engine that will optimize your 3DS requests to choose the correct 3DS approach optimizing your cost and user experience.

Recommended customer actions

Confirm your iFrame version is v1.177+ (or use iFrame-v1 / iFrame-stable). Spreedly
Review your integration for undocumented dependencies (anything outside documented Spreedly behavior).
If you want to adopt the new Forter-enabled capabilities (e.g., additional card brands), plan to create a new Merchant Profile + SCA provider as outlined in the guide.
Complete updates ahead of January 31, 2026 to ensure uninterrupted 3DS usage.
